There was a time in dentistry's history when metal free dentistry was either very difficult of impossible. Thankfully, those days are long gone. If a dentist is willing to stay current with their education and learns to apply the latest techniques, metal free dentistry can be applied as a solution to most every dental problem.
Modern Metal Free Dentistry
Today, metal free dentistry options are available for many of dentistry's main procedures ... composite resin fillings, porcelain onlays, crowns, bridges -- even implants can now be metal free.
The benefits of metal free dentistry are many. Not only is metal free dentistry beautifully esthetic and conservative, but it also eliminates the possibility of the energetic and galvanic interferences that can occur with metal based dental restorations. All in all, metal free is the way to be!

The Options for Metal Free Dentistry
The metal free materials available today are incredibly strong and beautiful. Our options include composite resin, and ceramics such as Empress, Emax and Zirconia.
Zirconia, the Darling of Metal Free Dentistry
Zirconia has been a godsend to dentistry. It is a very unusual material and is one of my absolute favorites for crowns, bridges and implants. The chemistry of zirconia is kind of complex but interesting. The element zirconium is a metal very similar to titanium. However, when oxidized in a very special manner, zirconium becomes zirconia ... and the transformation is made from metal to ceramic. The resulting zirconia material has the strength and durability of metal, and the crystalline structure and chemistry of ceramic. How cool is that!
